Research and Development Department
Lean-Tech Sp. z o.o. has in its organizational structure a separate research and development department, which has the task of developing and introducing innovative technologies within the scope of its activity. The department carries out both industrial research aimed at acquiring new knowledge for specific practical applications, and development work aimed at applying existing knowledge to the development of new or significant improvements to existing products and processes.
The main task of the research and development department is to develop product and process innovations for the products included in the company’s offer (systems: rack stacker cranes, AGV trolleys). Owing to this, the devices manufactured in the company are characterized by a high level of competitiveness on the market. The department cooperates with domestic and foreign scientific institutions on an ongoing basis.
The employees of the department are, among others, scientists who work on a daily basis at prestigious technical universities. The department employs a total of eight people, including 3 persons with a PhD, Eng. degree and two PhD students.
The scope of research work currently carried out by the research and development department of the company includes the following areas:
the use of computer simulation
in the process of implementation of robotised transport systems, implementation and testing of algorithms controlling the operation of autonomous transport robots;
development of new technologies
in the area of robotised transport systems including, among others, innovations in robot mechanics, the use of super capacitors as alternatives to lithium-ion and traditional gel batteries, the development of hybrid control and navigation systems for robots in open workspaces.
Research works carried out by Lean-Tech have gained recognition of the National Centre for Research and Development, which resulted in obtaining funding for the implementation of the research project entitled “Automated intelligent warehouse for the e-commerce industry” within the framework of the Operational Programme Intelligent Development 2014-2020 within the framework of Measure POIR.01.01.00: R&D projects of enterprises Sub-measure POIR.01.01.01: Industrial research and development works carried out by enterprises.
Project title: “Robotised system of intelligent internal transport” co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund within the framework of the Intelligent Development Operational Programme 2014-2020 within the framework of Measure POIR.04.01.00: Scientific research and development works Sub-measure POIR.04.01.04: Application projects.
In cooperation with the Laboratory of Modelling and Simulation of Logistics and Transport Processes at Wrocław University of Technology, located at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Lean-Tech managed to develop an innovative method using simulation modelling in the process of designing robotised transport systems. For this purpose, innovative simulation software FlexSim was used, which was recognized as the best product for logistics, transport, and production in 2016.
Lean-Tech is the only company in Lower Silesia that has implemented computer simulation tools in the process of designing logistics systems, thus replacing traditional calculation methods. Research works were carried out thanks to obtaining funding within the project “Lower Silesia Voucher for Innovations” implemented within the Regional Operational Programme of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship 2014-2020 by the Marshal Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in partnership with Dolnośląska Agencja Rozwoju Regionalnego S.A.
